If it is failed, clean the debris by using needle nose pliers, or tongs, and flashlight. Hot water can be used too. Plug the unit again to see whether it works or not. If it is failed again, use the socket at the bottom of the disposer manually.
Insert the hex key or Allen wrench into the bottom of the disposer and turn it. Wriggle it back and forth to get the junk that cannot be removed. You need to get the junk moving, so try to use much force. You can also get a lever arm to help you.
Keep pushing the junk back and forth until it moves and budges. When turned by hand, the junk should be moving. Plug in the disposer to see if the method works well. If it is still not working, you may want to pull off the disposer’s dried pipe.
By doing so, you could remove the obstruction that make the disposer not working. Or, if you feel that it is too troublesome work, you can hire a professional technician to do the work for you.
